In the Community
We care about the communities around us.
Using many of the same skills gained through construction, our service projects include building and repairing homes for those needing help in our neighborhoods. We also partner with veterans’ organizations serving those who have sacrificed greatly to protect our country. In addition, our company is an active training partner and sponsor of programs introducing high school students and young adults to the exciting world of construction.
And our team regularly walks, runs, donates, gives blood, and participates in other activities to raise funds and resources for local charitable organizations.
Safety and Health Leadership
Miller & Long’s commitment to safety stems from a culture of caring so that at the end of the day, every worker makes it home safely. Our commitment starts with the company ownership and permeates every level of management and every skilled tradesperson.
Safety training is required of every Miller & Long team member. It starts with new-hire orientation, then expands to onsite safety training, certifications, and industrial hygiene training. Our advanced safety program features innovative safety equipment and the implementation of industry-leading practices.
Careers for the Future
We build careers, not just structures. Miller & Long employs a skilled and dedicated labor force with a breadth of experience in:
- Heavy equipment operations
- Project management
- Executive leadership
From our pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs to a multitude of ongoing certification opportunities, we are dedicated to learning. We recognize the importance of building skills and careers, and ultimately the futures, of every team member.
“For over sixty years, we have always been able to rely on the Miller & Long team to dedicate the proper manpower and resources to produce a quality project on time regardless of the scope or complexity of the project. Their can-do, will-do attitude is something we have come to count on.”
The construction industry has always been focused on physical safety hazards…and for good reason. Construction sites, unlike industrial sites, change from day to day and even from moment to moment. A hazard at one location today will be gone tomorrow or moved across the job site.
Being an equipment operator is a very exciting job – you get to drive and operate cool equipment, move extremely large heavy items, or rip into the ground as no shovel has ever done. It is a fun job, but not one you master in a day.
Behind the scenes, the batch plant operators, mixer drivers, and various equipment operators are working to ensure our concrete is always ready when needed. It takes much coordination to make this happen, but these dedicated workers successfully do it day in and day out.
